SXSWhoa @ the Ohm Records party at the W Terrace last Friday night. That dude standing next to me was my very first love and my first serious relationship. We had the worst, messy, drawn out breakup; he cheated on me - more than once - it was terrible.
We were just kids. I was 19 years old, he was 18. And we had some great memories too in those two and a half years, before it all went downhill. I learned so much about myself in that experience and now look back and feel thankful for it. As we have both grown up, we’ve slowly become friends again. It’s been a pleasure to see him grow into a successful, honorable dude. He was just in town for sx, but whenever I’m in San Fran, we still go to dinner.
If you asked me what I learned from that experience - it’s this: You can go to hell and back with someone and even truly disgust them after the relationship is over. But after years apart and growth, you can also resurrect deep friendships that you never thought were possible. After all, there was a reason we were together so long in the first place - we were friends first. And I’m happy to say that we are again as well.

Think I’m ready to go back to black.

My obsession with Burnese Mountain dogs has been going on for a long time. Finally, my friend’s new roommate has a super spazzo burnese pup named Stella that I can play with! I’m considering stealing Stella and adding her to my pack. How cute would that be? Stella and Bella. Now that I think about it though, big Stella would probably bowl over everyone and eat me out of house and home.
I will own one of these dogs one day, but in a colder climate than Austin, Texas.
GPOYW - me and the bear day.
Happy Birthday to my little Bellabear today. It’s her adoption birthday (since I don’t know her real one). It’s been four years since I brought her home as a very sick pup on her death bed. Working with her and getting her to a healthy place has been THE most rewarding thing I’ve done in my life. She’s my best friend and I don’t think I’ve ever loved anything more. She’s the only dog I’ve ever owned that sleeps in till I wake up - ALWAYS and is always there to act goofy or give me a kiss when I’ve had a bad day.
If you ever have the urge to adopt a pet, please do - I guarantee it will enrich your life in ways you never thought possible. And please find a rescue - through these great organizations!
